I’m really failing to see the point of English orals. How many people actually major in literature nowadays? While most of the shit we do at IB is pretty pointless (TOK?!) some of it is at least semi-justifiable. Orals, however, just don’t strike a chord with me. The whole IB format is really dated; ‘true’ literature, as sad as it is, is dying and the more modern stuff is taking over. How many literary classics do you hear about? Yeah, none; all people want these days is inspirational shit and blockbuster films. I’d much rather give an oral on a movie than plays from 500 years ago, anyways.
